Candice Leighton

My diagnosis was Stage IIIC Breast Cancer with Lymphoma. Lil’ punk ass started in the left boob and went to my lymph nodes. So, that’s why it’s been kicked up to Stage 3.
But, for the most part, I had a double mastectomy and they completed reconstruction after I finish up all the fun treatment. They literally took off my huge boobs and give me perky fake ones!
My oncologist is like a female version of Gerald Butler in “300”! (She’s freakin’ awesome!) She started me on chemo on July 1st of 2013 and finished after 6 long sessions. Finishing up on October 21st of 2013. So, it was a goodbye to the raven black locks of hair and eyebrows! But, because of my age and that I was in good health we had to be aggressive.
Two weeks after chemo, my implants were put in to replace the expanders and then off to 5 weeks of radiation!
My doctors are amazing and have such a great support system of family, friends and co-workers!
UPDATE: I’m cancer free and just going thru the maintenance program of Herceptin every 3 weeks and Tamoxifen for 5 years. It’s a long road but, the traveling shoes are still on and have plenty of tread!
UPDATE 2: Done with Herceptin and still on Tamoxifen. But, starting my new normal life as a cancer survivor!
